About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Containing Esomeprazole 40mg, Esojem 40 is a tablet made by Vibcare Pharma's Auspin division. It falls in the anti-ulcerant group as a proton pump inhibitor, and the product is packed as 10x15 (Alu Alu).

How it works

The active ingredient works at the secretory surface of the stomach's acid-producing cells, where it inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase acid pump. Since this enzyme system is the final step in making stomach acid, blocking it reduces both basal and stimulated acid secretion. The fall in acid allows the lining of the food pipe and stomach to recover and calms the burning sensation of heartburn.

Used for

Doctors prescribe Esojem 40 for short-term treatment of diagnostically confirmed erosive esophagitis, for heartburn and other symptoms of GERD, and to maintain the healing of erosive esophagitis. Further uses are risk reduction of NSAID-associated gastric ulcers in adults at risk, eradication of H. pylori with amoxicillin and clarithromycin to reduce duodenal ulcer recurrence, and long-term treatment of pathological hypersecretory conditions including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Concomitant use with clopidogrel should be avoided, and long-term treatment should be checked with a doctor first.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

Ask a doctor first

  • Check with a doctor first if you are taking clopidogrel; concomitant use with esomeprazole should be avoided
  • Check with a doctor first if treatment is needed for a long time (risk of bone fractures of hip, wrist or spine, vitamin B12 deficiency and low magnesium with daily long-term use)
  • Check with a doctor first if symptoms do not improve, since symptom response does not rule out a stomach malignancy
