Description

Esovib 40 Injection is a sterile injection containing Esomeprazole 40mg. It belongs to a class of medicines called proton pump inhibitors and is grouped under Gastro — Anti-Ulcerant & Antacid. The product is packed as 1's and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division. It is meant to be given by a doctor or nurse.

How it works

Esomeprazole works by blocking the acid pump present on the surface of the stomach lining cells. By stopping this final step of acid production, it lowers both the usual and the stimulated secretion of stomach acid. The effect is dose-related and reduces the amount of acid in the stomach and the food pipe, which is useful when oral treatment is not possible or appropriate.

Used for

This injection is used for the short-term treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with erosive esophagitis in adults and in patients from 1 month to 17 years, when oral therapy is not possible or appropriate. It is also used to reduce the risk of rebleeding of gastric or duodenal ulcers after therapeutic endoscopy in adults.

Given only by a doctor or nurse.
