About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Obitovib 10 is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma. Each tablet contains Obeticholic Acid 10 mg as its active ingredient. It belongs to a class of medicines called farnesoid X receptor agonists, which act on bile acid regulation in the liver. The product is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu) and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Genvimax division.

How it works

Obeticholic Acid works by switching on a receptor in the liver and intestine called the farnesoid X receptor. This receptor controls how bile acids are made, moved and removed in the body. Once activated, it helps lower the amount of bile acids that stay inside liver cells and supports a healthier bile acid balance, which in turn helps bring down raised liver markers such as alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin.

Used for

These tablets are used in adults with primary biliary cholangitis, either together with ursodeoxycholic acid when that alone is not working well, or on their own when ursodeoxycholic acid is not tolerated. Liver injury, including a rise in liver enzymes and worsening of liver function, has been reported, so liver function tests should be monitored while using this medicine.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

  • Check with a doctor first if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding
