About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Marketed by Vibcare Pharma's Medanor division, Oflinor MS Suspension is a liquid suspension product. The formulation contains Ofloxacin 50 mg, Metronidazole 120 mg and Simethicone 10 mg, the strengths as stated on the pack. The medicine is classified under antibacterial and antiamoebic (anti-infective) agents and is packed as 60ml.

How it works

Each ingredient has its own task. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, blocks the growth of susceptible bacteria by acting on their DNA. Metronidazole, a nitroimidazole, works against susceptible anaerobic organisms as well as intestinal parasites such as amoebae and Giardia. Simethicone is an anti-gas agent that breaks down gas bubbles trapped in the stomach and intestines, easing pressure and bloating.

Used for

It is used in the management of bacterial diarrhoea and gastroenteritis caused by susceptible organisms, intestinal amoebiasis and giardiasis, together with relief of gas and bloating. Use is not permitted in people allergic to ofloxacin or other quinolones, to metronidazole, or to other nitroimidazole derivatives, in those with myasthenia gravis, in anyone who has had a serious fluoroquinolone reaction such as tendon injury, peripheral neuropathy or central nervous system effects, along with alcohol or propylene-glycol-containing products during treatment and for at least three days afterwards, or in patients who have taken disulfiram within the last two weeks. Stop the medicine and seek advice immediately if tendon pain, numbness or tingling, or central nervous system symptoms such as confusion or depression appear.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
