Yetofol MS Suspension combines ofloxacin, metronidazole and simethicone to treat gut infections and ease gas and bloating. Main uses: bacterial gastroenteritis and diarrhoea caused by susceptible organisms; intestinal amoebiasis (amoebic dysentery); giardiasis; relief of pressure, bloating and gas that comes along with these infections; treatment of infections proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria.

Common side effects of Yetofol MS Suspension include nausea; vomiting or abdominal cramps; diarrhoea; headache; dizziness; metallic or unpleasant taste in the mouth. Get medical help at once if you notice tendinitis or tendon rupture; numbness, tingling or pain in the hands or feet (peripheral neuropathy); severe skin reactions with blisters or peeling.

The three ingredients work in different ways. Ofloxacin acts on the DNA of susceptible bacteria so that they cannot continue to grow. Metronidazole works against susceptible anaerobic bacteria and against intestinal parasites such as amoebae and Giardia. Simethicone gathers small gas bubbles together in the stomach and intestines so that trapped gas is passed more easily, easing pressure and bloating.

Must not be used in patients allergic to ofloxacin or any quinolone antibiotic, or to metronidazole or other nitroimidazole derivatives. Must not be used by patients with a known history of myasthenia gravis. Must not be used in patients who have previously had a serious fluoroquinolone reaction such as tendon injury, peripheral neuropathy or central nervous system effects. Must not be used with alcohol, or products containing propylene glycol, during treatment and for at least three days after the course. Must not be used in patients who have taken disulfiram within the last two weeks; check with a doctor first if pregnant, breastfeeding, or if any tendon pain, numbness or unusual nerve or central nervous system symptoms appear.
