TORVIB 20 TORSEMIDE 20mg. IP

Torvib 20 contains Torsemide 20 mg tablets, used for fluid retention in heart failure, kidney or liver disease and for high blood pressure. Main uses: treatment of fluid retention (edema) associated with heart failure; treatment of edema associated with kidney disease; treatment of edema associated with liver disease; treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) to lower blood pressure.

Common side effects of Torvib 20 Tablet include increased urination (excessive urination); low potassium in the blood (hypokalemia); low sodium in the blood (hyponatremia); low magnesium or calcium in the blood; rise in blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia); asymptomatic rise in uric acid (hyperuricemia). Get medical help at once if you notice low blood pressure (hypotension) and dizziness on standing; worsening of kidney function, including acute kidney failure; low potassium, sodium, magnesium or calcium, and rise in blood sugar.

Each Torvib 20 tablet contains Torsemide 20 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Torvib 20 Tablet only as your doctor advises.

The MRP of Torvib 20 Tablet is ₹119 for a pack of 20x10 (Blister). For chemists and distributors, the PTR is ₹90.67 and the PTS is ₹81.6.

Torsemide works on the thick ascending part of the loop of Henle in the kidney. It blocks the sodium, potassium and chloride carrier there, so the kidney passes out more sodium, chloride and water in the urine. This reduces the extra fluid held in body tissues and lowers the volume of blood in the vessels, which helps to bring down blood pressure.

Must not be used if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to torsemide or to povidone. Must not be used in patients who are not passing urine (anuria). Must not be used in patients with hepatic coma. Check with a doctor first if you have liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, gout or low blood volume, or if you are taking medicines that affect the kidneys or electrolytes.
