Torvib 5 tablets contain torsemide 5 mg, a loop diuretic for edema from heart failure, kidney or liver disease and for hypertension. Main uses: treatment of swelling (edema) caused by heart failure; treatment of swelling (edema) caused by kidney disease; treatment of swelling (edema) caused by liver disease; treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) to lower blood pressure.

Common side effects of Torvib 5 Tablet include excessive or frequent urination; increased blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia); high uric acid levels in the blood without symptoms (asymptomatic hyperuricemia); low potassium in the blood (hypokalemia); low sodium in the blood (hyponatremia); low magnesium in the blood (hypomagnesemia). Get medical help at once if you notice low blood pressure, dehydration and worsening kidney function, including acute kidney failure; low levels of potassium, sodium, magnesium or calcium in the blood; ringing in the ears or hearing loss.

Each Torvib 5 tablet contains Torsemide 5 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Torvib 5 Tablet only as your doctor advises.

Torsemide works inside the thick ascending part of the loop of Henle in the kidney, where it blocks the sodium-potassium-chloride carrier. This action increases the removal of sodium, chloride and water through urine without significantly changing the kidney's filtration rate. By making the body pass more urine, the medicine helps remove extra fluid that collects in tissues and reduces the volume of blood, which helps to lower blood pressure.

Must not be used by patients who are allergic (hypersensitive) to torsemide or povidone. Must not be used by patients who pass no urine at all (anuria). Must not be used in hepatic coma.
