Vildavib 50 tablets contain Vildagliptin 50 mg and help control blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Main uses: used for type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults; helps lower blood sugar levels after meals and on an empty stomach; can be added to metformin when metformin alone is not enough; can be added to a sulfonylurea, a thiazolidinedione or insulin; can be used alone in patients who cannot take metformin.

Common side effects of Vildavib 50 Tablet include headache; dizziness; trembling or shakiness; low blood sugar, mainly when used with a sulfonylurea or insulin; nausea; nasopharyngitis (cold-like symptoms). Get medical help at once if you notice liver problems such as hepatitis, with yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or pain in the upper abdomen; liver function should be tested before treatment and at regular intervals during treatment; severe allergic reactions with swelling of the face, lips or throat and difficulty breathing; blisters or sores on the skin (bullous pemphigoid).

Each Vildavib 50 tablet contains Vildagliptin 50 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Vildavib 50 Tablet only as your doctor advises.

Vildagliptin in Vildavib 50 acts by protecting the incretin hormones from being broken down in the body. Since these hormones help the pancreas release insulin in response to meals and also tell the liver to hold back sugar production, keeping them active for longer brings down blood sugar after eating and during fasting hours. The tablet is taken together with diet and exercise as part of day-to-day blood sugar management.

Must not be used for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Must not be used in patients who are allergic (hypersensitive) to Vildagliptin or to any other ingredient of the tablet. Must not be used in patients with liver problems, or with raised liver enzymes before treatment. Check with a doctor first if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you have had pancreatitis, gallstones or high blood fats. Check with a doctor first if you have moderate or severe kidney impairment, including patients on dialysis; the dose should be reduced to 50 mg once daily.
