Vildavib OD 100 is a Vildagliptin 100 mg tablet used to lower blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. Main uses: blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus; used when diet and exercise alone do not bring blood sugar down enough; can be used on its own; can be added to Metformin, a sulfonylurea, a thiazolidinedione or insulin as advised by the doctor; helps lower blood sugar after meals and between meals.

Common side effects of Vildavib OD 100 Tablet include nasopharyngitis (cold and blocked nose); headache; dizziness; tremor (shaking); low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia), more likely with a sulfonylurea or insulin; nausea or constipation. Get medical help at once if you notice hepatitis or other liver injury; liver function may need to be checked; severe or disabling joint pain; acute pancreatitis.

The medicine works by blocking an enzyme called DPP-4, which normally breaks down the gut hormones GLP-1 and GIP. Must not be used in type 1 diabetes or in diabetic ketoacidosis. Must not be used by anyone allergic to Vildagliptin. Must not be used in severe liver disease. Check with a doctor first if you have severe kidney disease; when kidney function is severely reduced the doctor usually halves the dose to 50 mg once daily.
