Description

A tablet from Vibcare Pharma's Medanor division, Bilalux M carries Bilastine 20 mg and Montelukast Sodium 10 mg in each unit. It belongs to the class of antihistamine and leukotriene blocker tablets. The product comes packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu).

How it works

The two ingredients act on different parts of the allergy response. Bilastine 20 mg stops histamine from working on the nose and eyes, so sneezing, itching and watering reduce. Montelukast Sodium 10 mg blocks leukotrienes, the chemicals that cause nasal swelling and mucus and make the nose feel blocked. Together they keep the main symptoms of an allergy under control.

Used for

Bilalux M is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, a runny or itchy nose, itchy watery eyes and nasal blockage, and also itching and wheals of urticaria. In allergic rhinitis, the montelukast in this tablet is reserved for cases where other therapies have given inadequate relief or are not tolerated. Serious neuropsychiatric events, including agitation, aggression, depression, sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts and behaviour, have been reported with montelukast and may occur during treatment.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
