Bilavib M is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division. Each tablet contains Bilastine 20 mg and Montelukast Sodium 10 mg. It falls under the class of antihistamine and leukotriene blocker tablets and is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu).
In this tablet, Bilastine blocks histamine, the natural chemical released during an allergy that brings on sneezing, itching and watery eyes. Montelukast Sodium blocks leukotrienes, chemicals that lead to swelling, mucus and a blocked nose during an allergic reaction. Working together on the two pathways, the tablet helps keep day-to-day allergy symptoms in check.
Bilavib M is used for relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, including sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy watery eyes and a blocked nose, and for itching and wheals of urticaria. The montelukast part is meant for allergic rhinitis only when other therapies have not worked well or are not tolerated. Serious neuropsychiatric events, including agitation, aggression, depression, sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts and behaviour, have been reported with montelukast and may occur during treatment.
Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
