Description

From Vibcare Pharma's Auspin division, Bilapine M is a tablet that provides Bilastine 20 mg and Montelukast Sodium 10 mg per unit. It is an antihistamine and leukotriene blocker tablet and is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu).

How it works

Montelukast Sodium 10 mg blocks leukotrienes, chemicals released in the nose and airways during an allergy that cause swelling and mucus and make the nose blocked. Bilastine 20 mg blocks histamine, the chemical behind sneezing, itching and watery eyes. Acting on these two different pathways, the tablet addresses the main allergy symptoms together.

Used for

Bilapine M is used for relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy watery eyes and nasal blockage, and for itching and wheals of urticaria. Its montelukast content is kept for allergic rhinitis where alternative therapies have given inadequate relief or are not tolerated. Serious neuropsychiatric events, including agitation, aggression, depression, sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts and behaviour, have been reported with montelukast and may occur during treatment.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
