Description

Cefermed O tablets are manufactured by Vibcare Pharma. Each tablet contains Cefixime 200 mg and Ofloxacin 200 mg. They fall under the antibiotic and anti-infective class, as the tablet brings together a cephalosporin and a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Cefermed O is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu) and is marketed from Vibcare Pharma's Evermed division.

How it works

Cefixime works as a cephalosporin antibiotic by interrupting the building of bacterial cell walls, so the bacteria lose strength and die. Ofloxacin works as a fluoroquinolone antibiotic by interfering with bacterial DNA copying and repair, which stops the bacteria from multiplying. Both ingredients have antibacterial activity against susceptible bacteria.

Used for

The tablets are used for susceptible bacterial infections that involve the urinary tract, ear, throat and tonsils or the airways, including acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
