Yetzone 1GM Injection is a Ceftriaxone 1gm injection used for infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Main uses: lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria; acute bacterial otitis media caused by susceptible bacteria; urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria; skin and skin structure infections caused by susceptible bacteria; bacterial septicaemia caused by susceptible bacteria.

Common side effects of Yetzone 1GM Injection include pain, induration or tenderness at the injection site; phlebitis after intravenous administration; rash; diarrhoea or loose stools; nausea or vomiting; eosinophilia, thrombocytosis or leukopenia. Get medical help at once if you notice severe allergic reactions including anaphylaxis; pseudomembranous colitis during or after treatment; haemolytic anaemia or other serious blood disorders.

This medicine acts on bacteria by blocking the formation of their cell walls, so the bacteria cannot survive. Given by injection, ceftriaxone is absorbed into the body and reaches the area where the infection is present. It works against many of the bacteria listed in the prescribing information.

Must not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone, its excipients or any other cephalosporin. Must not be used in premature neonates up to a post-menstrual age of 41 weeks. Must not be used in neonates with high bilirubin levels, as ceftriaxone can displace bilirubin and risk bilirubin encephalopathy. Must not be mixed or given together with calcium-containing intravenous solutions, and calcium-containing diluents such as Ringer's or Hartmann's solution must not be used to reconstitute or dilute it, as a precipitate can form; it must not be used in neonates who need calcium-containing intravenous solutions, while in other patients the label allows sequential administration only with thorough flushing of the line. Check with a doctor first if the patient has had allergy to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
