About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Folpine Syrup (drug) is a syrup made by Vibcare Pharma. It contains Ferrous Ascorbate 30 mg and Folic Acid 500 mcg. It belongs to the haematinic and anti-anaemic class and is packed as 200ml, from Vibcare Pharma's Auspin division.

How it works

Ferrous Ascorbate gives the body iron in a form that can be absorbed well, and the ascorbate part helps the gut take up that iron. Iron is used by the body to build haemoglobin, the part of red blood cells that carries oxygen. Folic acid is vitamin B9, needed to form red blood cells and to make DNA.

Used for

The syrup is used for iron deficiency anaemia, folate deficiency anaemia, and in pregnancy to prevent and treat iron deficiency and supply folic acid. Accidental iron overdose can be fatal in young children, so keep the bottle out of reach and call a doctor or poison control centre immediately.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

Precautions

Do not use

  • Must not be used by anyone allergic to any ingredient of this preparation
  • Must not be used in haemosiderosis, haemochromatosis or haemolytic anaemias, as all iron compounds are contraindicated in these conditions
  • Must not be used in pernicious anaemia or other megaloblastic anaemias where vitamin B12 is deficient: folic acid alone is improper therapy and can hide the blood signs and symptoms while nerve damage keeps getting worse, so vitamin B12 deficiency needs proper evaluation and treatment

Ask a doctor first

  • Check with a doctor first if you have peptic ulcer, regional enteritis or ulcerative colitis
  • Accidental overdose of iron-containing products can be fatal in young children under 6: keep the product out of reach of children and call a doctor or poison control centre immediately in case of accidental overdose
