Egaflox O Tablets offer ofloxacin 200 mg and ornidazole 500 mg for susceptible bacterial infections, amoebiasis and giardiasis. Main uses: acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis due to susceptible bacteria; community-acquired pneumonia due to susceptible bacteria; uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections due to susceptible bacteria; mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible bacteria; intestinal amoebiasis (amoebic dysentery).

Common side effects of Egaflox O Tablet include nausea; vomiting; abdominal pain; headache; dizziness; metallic taste in the mouth. Get medical help at once if you notice tendinitis or tendon rupture; peripheral neuropathy (numbness, tingling or burning in hands or feet); severe allergic reaction including swelling of face or throat.

Each Egaflox O tablet contains Ofloxacin 200 mg + Ornidazole 500 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Egaflox O Tablet only as your doctor advises.

In this combination, Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that interferes with bacterial DNA and stops susceptible bacteria from multiplying. Ornidazole is a nitroimidazole antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent that targets anaerobic bacteria as well as protozoa such as amoeba and giardia, giving action against a range of organisms involved together.

Must not be used if there is a known allergy to ofloxacin or any fluoroquinolone. Must not be used if there is a known allergy to ornidazole or any nitroimidazole. Must not be used in patients with a history of myasthenia gravis. Must not be used in patients who have had a serious fluoroquinolone reaction before, such as tendon rupture, nerve damage or central nervous system effects; these patients should avoid fluoroquinolones. Check with a doctor first if there is kidney disease, liver disease, epilepsy, or a history of tendon problems.
