Read our full guide: Ofloxacin and ornidazole: uses, dose and brands

Description

Yetofol O is available as tablets made by Vibcare Pharma under the Auspin division. Each tablet contains Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg. The product falls in the antibiotic and anti-infective class and is packed as 10x10 (Blister).

How it works

The two ingredients work together to cover a range of organisms. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone, prevents susceptible bacteria from growing by acting on their DNA. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa such as amoeba and giardia, so the tablet addresses both kinds of organisms when they are involved together.

Used for

These tablets are prescribed for mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia and uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections. Ornidazole is used for intestinal amoebiasis (amoebic dysentery) and giardiasis. Ofloxacin may lead to disabling and possibly irreversible tendon rupture, nerve damage and central nervous system effects; Yetofol O must be stopped and a doctor contacted at the first sign of such reactions.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
