Read our full guide: Ofloxacin and ornidazole: uses, dose and brands

Description

Oflarb O is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division, containing Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg. It belongs to the class of antibiotic and anti-infective medicines. Each strip is packed as 10x10 (Blister).

How it works

Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that works by stopping susceptible bacteria from multiplying, so the infection can be brought under control by the body. Ornidazole is a nitroimidazole that acts against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa such as amoeba and giardia, helping in mixed infections where these organisms are involved.

Used for

Oflarb O Tablets are used for mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible bacteria, such as acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia and uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections. The ornidazole part is used for intestinal amoebiasis (amoebic dysentery) and giardiasis. Ofloxacin can cause disabling and possibly irreversible tendon, nerve and central nervous system reactions; stop the medicine and contact a doctor at the first sign of these.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
