Telmivib 20 tablets contain telmisartan 20 mg and are used to lower high blood pressure. Main uses: treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) to lower blood pressure; lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack; cardiovascular risk reduction in patients who are unable to take ACE inhibitors.

Common side effects of Telmivib 20 Tablet include back pain; sinusitis; diarrhoea; dizziness; nausea; tiredness. Get medical help at once if you notice symptomatic low blood pressure (hypotension), especially in volume- or salt-depleted patients; swelling of the face, lips or throat (angioedema); kidney impairment or raised potassium levels.

Each Telmivib 20 tablet contains Telmisartan 20 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Telmivib 20 Tablet only as your doctor advises.

Telmisartan, the active ingredient, works by blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in tissues such as blood vessel walls and the adrenal gland. Angiotensin II normally narrows blood vessels and promotes the release of aldosterone. By blocking its effects, the tablet helps blood vessels relax and lowers blood pressure, and this action does not depend on the pathway by which angiotensin II is formed.

Must not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to telmisartan or any component of the tablet. Must not be used during pregnancy; if pregnancy is detected, the medicine must be stopped as soon as possible, as it can injure and cause death to the developing fetus. Must not be given together with aliskiren in patients with diabetes. Concomitant use with an ACE inhibitor must be avoided. Check with a doctor first if you have impaired liver or kidney function or are volume- or salt-depleted (for example, on high doses of water tablets).
