Ursosec 300 tablets supply Ursodeoxycholic Acid 300 mg for gallstone dissolution and cholestatic liver conditions. Main uses: dissolution of radiolucent (non-calcified) cholesterol gallstones in a functioning gallbladder; early-stage primary biliary cholangitis (chronic cholestatic liver disease); cholestatic liver disorders in which bile flow is reduced; support of liver function in hepatobiliary conditions as advised by a doctor.

Common side effects of Ursosec 300 Tablet include diarrhoea or soft stools; nausea or vomiting; abdominal discomfort or fullness; pruritus (itching); pain in the right upper abdomen; rise in liver enzymes (transaminases) in some patients. Get medical help at once if you notice severe allergic reaction with rash, swelling of face or throat or difficulty breathing; calcification of gallstones with biliary colic; worsening of pruritus in patients with advanced liver disease.

Ursodeoxycholic Acid, the substance in each tablet, acts by cutting down cholesterol formation in the liver and cholesterol entering the bile. Bile with less cholesterol can slowly dissolve cholesterol gallstones and flow more easily through the bile ducts. The same bile acid also shields liver cells against the damaging build-up of toxic bile acids seen in cholestatic liver disease and helps improve bile flow, which supports normal liver and biliary function.

Must not be used if gallstones are calcified (radiopaque) or the gallbladder is not functioning. Must not be used in complete biliary obstruction or in acute inflammation of the gallbladder or bile ducts. Must not be used in patients with biliary-enteric fistula. Must not be used if allergic to ursodeoxycholic acid or other bile acids. Check with a doctor first if pregnant, breastfeeding, or if there is advanced liver disease.
