Description

Atovib 40 is a tablet made by Vibcare Pharma. Each tablet contains Atorvastatin 40 mg. It belongs to the class of medicines known as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, or statins. The product is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu) and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Cure division.

How it works

Atorvastatin works in the liver. It blocks HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme that is needed to make cholesterol. With less cholesterol made in the liver, the liver puts more LDL receptors on its cell surface, so more LDL cholesterol is taken out of the blood. The result is lower LDL cholesterol and fewer LDL particles in the blood.

Used for

Atovib 40 is used as an add-on to diet to lower LDL cholesterol in adults with primary hyperlipidemia, in adults and children aged 10 years and older with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, and in adults with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia or hypertriglyceridemia; it is also used to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke and related events. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness to the doctor without delay, and tell the doctor at once about yellowing of the skin or eyes or other signs of a liver problem.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
