About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Onapred 8 is the name under which Vibcare Pharma supplies tablets containing Methylprednisolone 8 mg. It is a corticosteroid medicine in the Steroid & Hormone group, packed as 10x15 (Alu Alu) and available from Vibcare Pharma's Medanor division.

How it works

The active ingredient Methylprednisolone mimics cortisol, the hormone produced by the adrenal glands. By doing so it reduces inflammation in the body and helps to moderate an immune response that is working harder than normal, and this is how it brings its effect in the disorders it is meant for.

Used for

Among the conditions these tablets are used for are adrenocortical insufficiency and congenital adrenal hyperplasia, short-term adjunctive therapy in rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis and acute gouty arthritis, collagen diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and acute rheumatic carditis, and severe skin and allergic states that are not relieved by usual treatment. Keep in mind that corticosteroids can hide the signs of infection, and new infections arising during treatment may become severe and at times fatal.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
