Description

Cefdojem CV (10 Pack) is a tablet of Vibcare Pharma, with Cefpodoxime 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg in every tablet. Its class is antibiotic, being a cephalosporin antibiotic plus a beta-lactamase inhibitor. The product is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu) and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Auspin division.

How it works

Cefpodoxime in the tablet acts on susceptible bacteria by blocking the completion of their cell wall, which kills them. Clavulanic Acid supports this action as a beta-lactamase inhibitor; bacteria that make beta-lactamase enzymes can destroy antibiotics, and clavulanic acid blocks those enzymes so that cefpodoxime keeps its activity.

Used for

The tablets are used for mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible bacteria: pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute otitis media, community-acquired pneumonia, and acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

  • Must not be used by anyone with a previous episode of cholestatic jaundice or liver dysfunction linked to clavulanate

Ask a doctor first

  • Check with a doctor first if you have a history of penicillin allergy, as cross-allergy between beta-lactam antibiotics can occur
