Description

Available from Vibcare Pharma's Evermed division, Cefdolam CV Dry Syrup (WFR) is a dry syrup formulated for oral use. Each dose pair of actives is Cefpodoxime 50 mg with Clavulanic Acid 31.25 mg. It is placed in the antibiotic and anti-infective (antibacterial) class. The pack is 1's. Cefdolam CV Dry Syrup (WFR) is the brand name used here for the product.

How it works

The two actives work together in plain terms. Cefpodoxime, a cephalosporin antibiotic, attacks the cell wall of susceptible bacteria and kills them. Clavulanic Acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor; it shuts down the resistance enzymes made by some bacteria, so that the antibiotic can act on them without being broken down.

Used for

Cefdolam CV Dry Syrup (WFR) is used for mild to moderate infections due to susceptible strains, including acute otitis media, pharyngitis and/or tonsillitis, community-acquired pneumonia and acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. Significant or persistent diarrhoea, during or after treatment, should be reported to a doctor.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
