Description

A tablet from Vibcare Pharma, Cefdolam CV contains Cefpodoxime 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg. It falls in the class of antibiotics, as it combines a cephalosporin antibiotic with a beta-lactamase inhibitor in one tablet. The pack size is 10x6 (Alu Alu), and the product comes from Vibcare Pharma's Evermed division.

How it works

Cefpodoxime works against susceptible bacteria by stopping cell wall formation, which leads to the death of the bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is added because some bacteria make beta-lactamase enzymes that inactivate antibiotics. By blocking these enzymes, clavulanic acid helps cefpodoxime retain its action against bacteria that produce them.

Used for

Cefdolam CV is prescribed for mild to moderate bacterial infections, such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute otitis media, community-acquired pneumonia, and acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis due to susceptible organisms.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
