Description
An injectable formulation from Vibcare Pharma's Evermed division, Pantalam 40 Injection supplies Pantoprazole 40 mg as its active ingredient. It falls under the gastro group of medicines known as proton pump inhibitors, or anti-ulcerants, and is packed as 1's.
How it works
The active ingredient acts on the stomach's acid-producing cells and binds to the (H+,K+)-ATPase enzyme system, which is the last step in making stomach acid. This action reduces acid secretion whether it is at rest or stimulated, and the antisecretory effect can persist for more than 24 hours. With less acid in the stomach, reflux-related irritation of the oesophagus is eased and acid output is controlled in conditions where too much acid is made.

Pantalam 40 Injection is used in adults for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with a history of erosive esophagitis for up to 10 days, and for pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
