PANTAVIB 40 PANTOPRAZOLE 40mg. IP

Pantavib 40 tablets contain Pantoprazole 40 mg for GERD, erosive esophagitis and excess acid. Main uses: short-term treatment of erosive oesophagitis (acid damage to the food pipe) linked with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adults and children five years and older; healing of the inflamed food pipe and relief of reflux symptoms such as heartburn in GERD; maintenance of healing of erosive oesophagitis and reduction of daytime and nighttime heartburn in adults with GERD; long-term treatment of conditions in which the stomach secretes too much acid, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Common side effects of Pantavib 40 Tablet include headache; diarrhoea; nausea; abdominal pain; vomiting; flatulence (gas). Get medical help at once if you notice acute tubulointerstitial nephritis (kidney inflammation) — stop the medicine and consult a doctor; severe skin reactions or other signs of allergy — stop and seek medical help; clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea.

How it works is simple to follow: pantoprazole blocks the proton pump of the stomach's acid-making cells, the final step of acid formation. With that step stopped, acid secretion falls at rest and after stimulation alike, and the effect of one dose lasts longer than 24 hours, lowering the acidity that irritates the food pipe and stomach lining.

Must not be used by patients with known allergy to pantoprazole, any component of the tablet, or any substituted benzimidazole. Must not be used by patients taking rilpivirine-containing products.
