About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Pantavib 40 is a delayed-release tablet from Vibcare Pharma, and each tablet provides Pantoprazole 40 mg. It belongs to the proton pump inhibitor class of medicines, used in gastro care as an anti-ulcerant. The tablets are packed as 10x15 (Alu Alu) and are marketed through Vibcare Pharma's Prima division.

How it works

Pantoprazole works on the acid-making cells of the stomach lining. It attaches to the proton pump, which is the last step in the production of stomach acid, and shuts it down. This lowers acid output whether the stomach is at rest or stimulated, and the effect of a dose lasts longer than 24 hours.

Used for

This tablet is used for the short-term treatment of erosive oesophagitis linked with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, for maintaining that healing in adults, and for conditions where the stomach makes too much acid, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

Uses

  • Short-term treatment of erosive oesophagitis (acid damage to the food pipe) linked with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adults and children five years and older
  • Healing of the inflamed food pipe and relief of reflux symptoms such as heartburn in GERD
  • Maintenance of healing of erosive oesophagitis and reduction of daytime and nighttime heartburn in adults with GERD
  • Long-term treatment of conditions in which the stomach secretes too much acid, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Precautions

Do not use

  • Must not be used by patients with known allergy to pantoprazole, any component of the tablet, or any substituted benzimidazole
  • Must not be used by patients taking rilpivirine-containing products

Ask a doctor first

  • Check with a doctor first if the medicine is needed for a long time, as low vitamin B12 levels, low magnesium and a higher chance of hip, wrist or spine fractures have been reported
  • Check with a doctor first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Check with a doctor first if new or worsening symptoms appear, since relief of symptoms does not rule out a stomach malignancy and further follow-up and diagnostic testing may be needed
