Read our full guide: Montelukast and levocetirizine: uses, dose, side effects and brands
Montaver LC Syrup is an oral syrup for prescription use, from Vibcare Pharma's Medanor division. It contains Levocetirizine 2.5mg and Montelukast 4mg, and belongs to the anti-allergic and anti-histamine group of medicines. Each bottle is packed as 60ml.
The syrup combines two ways of controlling allergy. Levocetirizine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors, which helps reduce sneezing, runny nose and itching. Montelukast works by blocking the action of cysteinyl leukotrienes, substances that cause swelling of the airways and nasal passages, so it helps keep the airways and nose more settled over time.
Montaver LC Syrup is used for relief of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms, for the skin symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria such as itching and hives, and for the prophylaxis and long-term treatment of asthma. Montelukast can cause serious neuropsychiatric events such as agitation, aggression, depression, sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts or behaviour; if such changes appear, contact a doctor at once. It may cause drowsiness.
Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
