Description

Montaver LC is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma, made with Montelukast Sodium 10 mg and Levocetirizine 5 mg. It belongs to the anti-allergic and anti-histamine class of medicines. The item is packed as 10x15 (Alu Alu) and it comes from Vibcare Pharma's Medanor division.

How it works

Levocetirizine, one of the two ingredients, blocks histamine at H1 receptors and helps settle sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, watery eyes and hives. Montelukast Sodium, the other ingredient, blocks cysteinyl leukotriene receptors and helps keep airway swelling, mucus and airway tightening under control. Together they act on two different parts of the allergic response.

Used for

These tablets are prescribed for long-term prevention and control of asthma symptoms and for prevention of breathing difficulty triggered by exercise. Serious neuropsychiatric events, including agitation, depression, sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts or behaviour, have been reported with montelukast, so any change in mood or behaviour should be told to the doctor. They are used for seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis only when other treatments are not effective or not tolerated.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
