Read our full guide: Montelukast and levocetirizine: uses, dose, side effects and brands

Description

Sold as Montivib LC DUO, this is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma containing Montelukast Sodium 10 mg and Levocetirizine 5 mg. It comes under the anti-allergic and anti-histamine class. The item is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu) and it is from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division.

How it works

The DUO tablet pairs two kinds of action. Levocetirizine blocks histamine at H1 receptors and brings relief from sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, itching and hives. Montelukast Sodium blocks cysteinyl leukotriene receptors in the airways and nose, helping to reduce swelling, mucus and tightening of the air passages that come with an allergic reaction.

Used for

Montivib LC DUO is used for the prevention and long-term control of asthma symptoms and for prevention of exercise-induced breathing difficulty. Any change in mood or behaviour must be shared with the doctor, since montelukast has been linked to serious neuropsychiatric events such as agitation, depression, sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts or behaviour. Use for seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms is kept for patients who get no relief from or cannot take other treatments.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
