Read our full guide: Montelukast and levocetirizine: uses, dose, side effects and brands

Description

Montivib LC Kid is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division. Each tablet contains Levocetirizine 2.5 mg and Montelukast Sodium 4 mg. The medicine belongs to the antihistamine and leukotriene blocker class and is packed as 10x10 (Alu Alu).

How it works

Levocetirizine in the tablet works by blocking histamine at its H1 receptors, which brings down sneezing, a runny nose, watery eyes and itching. Montelukast Sodium acts on a different pathway by blocking cysteinyl leukotrienes in the nasal lining and air passages. These chemicals cause swelling, extra mucus and tightening of the airways during allergy, so together the two ingredients act on both histamine and leukotriene activity.

Used for

Montivib LC Kid is used for relief of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms in children when other therapies have not given adequate relief or are not tolerated, and for prevention and long-term treatment of asthma in children 2 years of age and older. Serious neuropsychiatric events such as agitation, aggression, depression, disturbed sleep or suicidal thoughts have been reported with Montelukast; report any such change to the doctor.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
