Read our full guide: Montelukast and levocetirizine: uses, dose, side effects and brands

Description

Everkast LC is supplied by Vibcare Pharma as a tablet. Each tablet provides Montelukast Sodium 10 mg and Levocetirizine 5 mg, and the medicine is classed as anti-allergic and anti-histamine. It is packed as 10x15 (Alu Alu) and belongs to Vibcare Pharma's Evermed division.

How it works

In terms of action, Montelukast Sodium is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks leukotrienes released in the airways and nose during an allergic reaction, easing swelling, mucus and airway tightening. Levocetirizine is an antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors and reduces sneezing, watery eyes, itching and hives. Both ingredients act at different points in the allergic process.

Used for

This tablet is used for regular prevention and long-term control of asthma symptoms and for prevention of breathing difficulty brought on by exercise. Serious neuropsychiatric events, including depression, sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts or behaviour, have been reported with montelukast; tell the doctor about any mood or behaviour change. For seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, it should be used only when other treatments are not effective or not tolerated.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
