Montivib LC (10 Pack) tablets carry Montelukast 10 mg and Levocetirizine 5 mg for long-term asthma control and relief of chronic hives. Main uses: long-term prevention and control of asthma symptoms in adults and adolescents; prevention of breathing difficulty triggered by exercise; relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis such as sneezing and a runny or blocked nose, reserved for patients who do not respond to or cannot take other treatments, because montelukast carries a risk of serious neuropsychiatric events; relief of symptoms of perennial allergic rhinitis under the same reserve-use limitation; relief of the itching and hives of chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children 6 years and older.

Common side effects of Montivib LC Tablet include headache; drowsiness or somnolence; dry mouth; tiredness or fatigue; upper respiratory infection; sore throat. Get medical help at once if you notice serious neuropsychiatric events such as agitation, aggression, depression, sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts or behaviour; severe allergic reactions including swelling of the face or lips and anaphylaxis; urinary retention.

Each Montivib LC tablet contains Montelukast Sodium 10 mg + Levocetirizine 5 mg. The right dose and how long to take it depend on the condition, age and other medicines, so use Montivib LC Tablet only as your doctor advises.

Montelukast Sodium works by blocking leukotrienes, chemicals released in the airways and nose during an allergic reaction that lead to swelling, mucus and tightening of the air passages. Levocetirizine acts on histamine H1 receptors and brings down sneezing, watery eyes, itching and hives. The two ingredients therefore act on different parts of the allergic response.

Must not be used by anyone allergic to montelukast, levocetirizine, cetirizine or any other ingredient of the tablet. Must not be used by patients with end-stage kidney disease (creatinine clearance below 10 mL/min) or patients on haemodialysis. Must not be used to treat a sudden asthma attack; an appropriate rescue medicine should be kept at hand.
