Read our full guide: Montelukast and levocetirizine: uses, dose, side effects and brands
Montivib LC Syrup is an oral syrup made by Vibcare Pharma, with Levocetirizine 2.5 mg and Montelukast 4 mg as its two active ingredients. It belongs to the anti-allergic and anti-histamine class of medicines. The syrup is packed as 60ml and comes from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division.
Levocetirizine works by blocking histamine at H1 receptors in the body, which helps ease sneezing, a runny nose, itching and watery eyes. Montelukast works by blocking cysteinyl leukotrienes, chemicals that swell and tighten the airways and nasal passages. The two ingredients act on different parts of the allergic response.
Montivib LC Syrup is used for relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, for itching and hives seen in chronic idiopathic urticaria, and for long-term management of asthma in young children. Serious neuropsychiatric events such as agitation, aggression, depression, sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts or behaviour have been reported with montelukast; tell the doctor if such changes appear. It is not meant for a sudden asthma attack.
Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
