Description

Mefomol P DS Suspension is a syrup made by Vibcare Pharma and supplied from its Medanor division. Each syrup combines Mefenamic Acid 100 mg with Paracetamol 250 mg, and it belongs to the analgesic and anti-inflammatory (NSAID) class. The product is packed as 60ml.

How it works

Mefenamic Acid in this formulation brings down prostaglandin levels in the body, and that eases pain and swelling where they occur. Paracetamol helps in another way, acting on the body's pain and temperature centres to relieve aches and lower fever. The two ingredients in the syrup thus cover pain, inflammation and fever together.

Used for

Mefomol P DS Suspension is used for mild to moderate pain such as headache, toothache, backache, muscular aches and menstrual cramps, and for temporary reduction of fever. Medicines of the NSAID group, including mefenamic acid, carry a risk of heart attack or stroke and of serious bleeding, ulceration or perforation of the stomach or intestines, which can happen without any warning sign. From 20 weeks of pregnancy it must generally be avoided, and from 30 weeks it must be avoided; if use is being considered, the patient must be under a doctor's care.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
