Mefomol P Suspension is a liquid pain and fever medicine with Mefenamic Acid 50 mg and Paracetamol 125 mg. Main uses: relief of mild to moderate pain; reduction of fever; treatment of primary dysmenorrhea (period pain); relief of short-term pain from muscle aches, headache, toothache, backache and the common cold.

Common side effects of Mefomol P Suspension include nausea or vomiting; abdominal pain; diarrhoea or constipation; indigestion, heartburn or gas; headache or dizziness; skin rash or itching. Get medical help at once if you notice increased risk of heart attack or stroke, which can be fatal, mainly with higher doses or longer use; bleeding, ulceration or perforation of the stomach or intestines, which can be fatal; severe skin reactions with blisters or reddening of the skin, and serious allergic reactions including difficulty in breathing.

How the suspension works rests on its two ingredients. Mefenamic Acid lowers prostaglandin production in the tissues, which takes away part of the pain and swelling signal. Paracetamol reaches the brain and acts on the pain and temperature-setting areas there, easing pain and lowering raised body temperature. The combined action covers pain as well as fever.

Must not be used by anyone allergic to mefenamic acid, paracetamol or any ingredient of the product. Must not be used by patients who have asthma, urticaria or allergic reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs. Must not be used around coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Must not be used together with any other product that contains paracetamol without asking a doctor or pharmacist. Check with a doctor first if there is liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, stomach ulcer, asthma, if warfarin is being taken, or if the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration as advised by the doctor, because NSAIDs raise the risk of heart attack, stroke and stomach bleeding.
