Description

An antiemetic injection, Vomijem Injection carries the active ingredient Ondansetron 2 mg. It is classed as a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. Vibcare Pharma presents it in a pack of 10x2, and it is marketed under the Auspin division.

How it works

The active ingredient, ondansetron, blocks the action of serotonin at 5-HT3 receptors in the digestive tract and the brain. Serotonin is one of the body's messengers that sets off nausea and the urge to vomit. When these receptors are blocked, the vomiting reflex is not triggered as easily.

Used for

This injection is used to prevent nausea and vomiting linked with initial and repeat courses of emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, including high-dose cisplatin, and to prevent postoperative nausea and/or vomiting.
