About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Glimcod M3 is a tablet form of the combination Glimepiride 3 mg and Metformin 500 mg. The pair falls under the oral anti-diabetic class, a sulfonylurea together with a biguanide. Each pack is made as 10x15 (Blister) and the brand comes from Vibcare Pharma's Medanor division.

How it works

In this tablet, glimepiride works on the beta cells of the pancreas and helps them release insulin, which carries sugar out of the blood. Metformin cuts down the sugar the liver puts out and improves how the body responds to insulin. Since each ingredient works by a different route, blood sugar is supported from two directions.

Used for

Doctors prescribe these tablets along with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Severe hypoglycemia is a risk, and metformin carries a risk of lactic acidosis.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

Uses

  • As an add-on to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • Helps lower raised blood sugar through two different actions: insulin release and reduced liver sugar output
  • Used in type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone do not keep blood sugar in range

  • Must not be used for type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • Must not be used in severe kidney impairment or in metabolic acidosis.
  • Must not be used by anyone allergic to glimepiride, metformin, sulfonamide derivatives or any ingredient of the tablet.
