About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Viglim M1 Forte is a tablet made by Vibcare Pharma and marketed under one of its divisions. Each tablet carries Glimepiride 1 mg together with Metformin 1000 mg. It falls in the anti-diabetic class of medicines and is packed as 10x15 (Blister).

How it works

The tablet brings two actions together. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, works on the pancreas to push out more insulin by closing potassium channels on its beta cells, and this lowers blood glucose. Metformin, a biguanide, reduces the amount of glucose made by the liver and helps the body respond to insulin. The two work in different ways to improve glycemic control.

Used for

Viglim M1 Forte is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sulfonylurea medicines such as glimepiride carry a possible increased risk of cardiovascular death, so the risks, benefits and treatment alternatives should be discussed with the treating doctor.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
