VIGLIM M2 FORTE GLIMEPIRIDE 2mg. IP + METFORMIN 1000mg. IP

Viglim M2 Forte tablets combine glimepiride 2 mg and metformin 1000 mg to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes. Main uses: used with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus; helps bring down raised fasting and after-meal blood sugar levels; used when a single medicine alone does not keep blood sugar within the target range.

Common side effects of Viglim M2 Forte Tablet include low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), including sweating, shakiness and hunger; nausea and vomiting; stomach pain or discomfort; diarrhoea; headache; dizziness. Get medical help at once if you notice severe low blood sugar that may need urgent treatment; lactic acidosis (a build-up of lactic acid in the blood) linked to metformin, with malaise, muscle pain, breathing difficulty, sleepiness and abdominal pain; hemolytic anemia in people with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.

Two diabetes medicines with different actions are combined here. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, prompts the pancreas to release more insulin so that sugar moves from the blood into the cells. Metformin, a biguanide, cuts down the sugar made by the liver and helps the body use its own insulin. Together they help keep blood sugar closer to the target level.

Must not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis. Must not be used in acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis. Must not be used in patients with severe renal impairment. Must not be used by anyone allergic to glimepiride, metformin, sulfonamide derivatives or any ingredient of the tablet. Check with a doctor first if you have kidney or liver problems, are elderly, drink alcohol regularly, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have G6PD deficiency.
