About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Viglim M1 is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma. Each tablet contains Glimepiride 1 mg and Metformin 500 mg, and it belongs to the anti-diabetic class of medicines. The product is packed as 10x15 (Blister).

How it works

Glimepiride works by making the pancreas release more insulin, which brings down the level of glucose in the blood. Metformin, a biguanide, acts mainly in the liver and muscles: it reduces the glucose produced by the liver and helps the body respond to insulin properly. The two ingredients therefore act through different routes to help keep blood glucose under control.

Used for

These tablets are used along with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride can cause severe low blood sugar, especially in elderly or kidney-impaired patients and when other anti-diabetic medicines are taken. Metformin can rarely lead to lactic acidosis, more so with kidney problems, heavy alcohol intake, dehydration, liver disease, scans with contrast dye, surgery or low oxygen states.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
