About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Viglim M 3/850 is a tablet from Vibcare Pharma. Every tablet carries Glimepiride 3 mg and Metformin 850 mg. It falls in the oral antidiabetic class, being a sulfonylurea combined with a biguanide, and is packed as 10x15 (Blister).

How it works

Glimepiride acts on the pancreas and encourages it to release more insulin, which brings high blood sugar down. Metformin works mainly in the liver, where it reduces the amount of glucose released into the blood, and it also helps the body respond to insulin. Because the two act by different routes, they are given together so that blood sugar levels are kept steady as part of routine diabetes care.

Used for

These tablets are used as an add-on to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Warning: glimepiride can cause severe low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), and metformin carries a risk of lactic acidosis, a build-up of lactic acid in the blood; that risk is higher with kidney impairment, liver problems, heavy alcohol intake, dehydration, low oxygen states, serious infection and scans using iodinated contrast.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.
