About the product

By Vibcare Pharma · Updated 9 October 2026 · Based on product labels and standard drug references

Description

Made by Vibcare Pharma, Viglim M4 is an oral tablet with Glimepiride 4 mg and Metformin 500 mg as its active ingredients. It is a sulfonylurea and biguanide antidiabetic combination, packed as 10x15 (Blister) in Vibcare Pharma's Cure division.

How it works

Glimepiride acts on the pancreas and prompts the release of insulin, which carries glucose out of the blood. Metformin, from the biguanide group, lowers the glucose released by the liver and helps the body use the insulin available.

Used for

The tablets are used alongside diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. They carry two serious risks: glimepiride may cause severe hypoglycemia, and metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis, with muscle pain, breathing difficulty, sleepiness and abdominal pain as warning signs.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

  • Serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema or Stevens-Johnson syndrome

Uses

  • Adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • Lowers raised blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone are not enough
  • Used as one part of the diabetes care plan set by the treating doctor

Do not use

  • Must not be used for type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis
  • Must not be used by patients with severe kidney impairment or any metabolic acidosis
  • Must not be used by patients allergic to glimepiride, metformin or sulfonamide derivatives

Ask a doctor first

  • Check with a doctor first if you have reduced kidney or liver function, are 65 years or older, or drink alcohol heavily (these raise the risk of lactic acidosis with metformin)
