Viglim M4 Forte tablets combine Glimepiride 4 mg and Metformin 1000 mg to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Main uses: improves blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus; used together with diet and exercise; helps when diet, exercise and single medicine are not enough to control blood sugar.

Common side effects of Viglim M4 Forte Tablet include low blood sugar (hypoglycemia); headache; nausea; dizziness; weakness (asthenia); diarrhoea. Get medical help at once if you notice severe low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which may need urgent care; lactic acidosis (a build-up of lactic acid in the blood, linked to metformin); hemolytic anemia in patients with G6PD deficiency; serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema or Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

The two ingredients act in different ways to bring down blood sugar. Glimepiride 4 mg works by urging the pancreas to release more insulin into the blood. Metformin 1000 mg works by cutting down the glucose produced by the liver and by improving how the body responds to its own insulin. Taken together, the two give blood sugar control through two separate routes.

Must not be used for type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis. Must not be used in severe kidney impairment. Must not be used in metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis. Must not be used by anyone allergic to glimepiride, metformin or sulfonamide derivatives. Check with a doctor first if you have kidney or liver problems, drink alcohol heavily, are elderly, or are having a scan with contrast dye.
