Description

Moxivib CV 625 DUO is a tablet that pairs Amoxycillin 500 mg with Clavulanic Acid 125 mg. It is grouped with antibacterial medicines: a penicillin antibiotic combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It is packed as 10x1x10 (Alu Strip) and is offered from Vibcare Pharma's Prima division.

How it works

How the tablet acts is a matter of two roles. Amoxycillin attacks the bacteria by interrupting the formation of their cell walls. Clavulanic acid shields amoxycillin from the beta-lactamase enzyme that some bacteria produce as a defence, allowing the antibiotic to keep working against those strains. Both substances work side by side during the course of therapy.

Used for

Doctors use it for lower respiratory tract infections, acute bacterial otitis media, sinusitis, skin and skin structure infections and urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

  • Diarrhoea caused by Clostridioides difficile (antibiotic-associated diarrhoea)

Uses

  • Lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Acute bacterial otitis media caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Sinusitis caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Skin and skin structure infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Urinary tract infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Used only when laboratory tests show the bacteria produce beta-lactamase; it is not the choice when bacteria respond to amoxycillin alone

Precautions

Do not use

  • Must not be used in patients with a history of a serious allergic reaction to amoxycillin, clavulanic acid or other beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins and cephalosporins
  • Must not be used in patients with a previous history of cholestatic jaundice or liver dysfunction caused by this combination
  • Must not be used in patients with mononucleosis, as a skin rash usually develops

Ask a doctor first

  • Check with a doctor first if you have liver or kidney problems, are pregnant or are breastfeeding
  • Check with a doctor first if you develop rash, yellowing of the skin, or severe or persistent diarrhoea during treatment
