Description

The brand Yetomox CV 625 DUO is a tablet that contains Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg. It is an antibacterial product of the penicillin type with a beta-lactamase inhibitor added. The pack is 10x1x10 (Alu Strip) and the tablet is from Vibcare Pharma's Auspin division.

How it works

Inside the tablet, amoxycillin interferes with the cell wall of susceptible bacteria and causes them to break down. Clavulanic acid keeps amoxycillin active by preventing the beta-lactamase enzyme of resistant bacteria from destroying it. The tablet is meant for infections caused by organisms that produce this enzyme.

Used for

Its uses are lower respiratory tract infections, acute bacterial otitis media, sinusitis, skin and skin structure infections and urinary tract infections due to susceptible bacteria.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

Uses

  • Lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Acute bacterial otitis media caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Sinusitis caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Skin and skin structure infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Urinary tract infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Used only when laboratory tests show the bacteria produce beta-lactamase; it is not the choice when bacteria respond to amoxycillin alone

Precautions

Do not use

  • Must not be used in patients with a history of a serious allergic reaction to amoxycillin, clavulanic acid or other beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins and cephalosporins
  • Must not be used in patients with a previous history of cholestatic jaundice or liver dysfunction caused by this combination
  • Must not be used in patients with mononucleosis, as a skin rash usually develops
