Description

Moxyhil CV 625 is a tablet made up of Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg. It falls under antibacterials, specifically a penicillin antibiotic combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It is packed as 10x1x10 (Alu Strip) and is from Vibcare Pharma's Medanor division.

How it works

The tablet carries two active substances with different jobs. Amoxycillin prevents susceptible bacteria from making their cell walls so that they cannot survive. Clavulanic acid counters the beta-lactamase enzyme that some bacteria use to inactivate penicillins, which keeps amoxycillin able to act on those organisms.

Used for

Moxyhil CV 625 is used for lower respiratory tract infections, acute bacterial otitis media, sinusitis, skin and skin structure infections and urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

  • Diarrhoea caused by Clostridioides difficile (antibiotic-associated diarrhoea)

Uses

  • Lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Acute bacterial otitis media caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Sinusitis caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Skin and skin structure infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Urinary tract infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Used only when laboratory tests show the bacteria produce beta-lactamase; it is not the choice when bacteria respond to amoxycillin alone

Precautions

Do not use

  • Must not be used in patients with a history of a serious allergic reaction to amoxycillin, clavulanic acid or other beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins and cephalosporins
  • Must not be used in patients with a previous history of cholestatic jaundice or liver dysfunction caused by this combination
  • Must not be used in patients with mononucleosis, as a skin rash usually develops
