Description

Yetomox CV 625 is a tablet formulation that provides Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg in each tablet. It belongs to the antibacterial class of penicillin antibiotics combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor. The product is packed as 10x6 (Alu Alu) and is from Vibcare Pharma's Auspin division.

How it works

The amoxycillin in the tablet prevents susceptible bacteria from completing their cell walls, which leads to their death. Clavulanic acid is added because it stops the beta-lactamase enzyme made by certain bacteria from destroying amoxycillin, so the antibiotic can stay active. The combination is intended for infections caused by organisms that make this enzyme.

Used for

It is prescribed for lower respiratory tract infections, acute bacterial otitis media, sinusitis, skin and skin structure infections and urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Use only on a doctor's prescription, at the dose and for the duration advised.

Get medical help at once if you notice

  • Serious allergic (anaphylactic) reactions
  • Severe cutaneous adverse reactions (severe skin reactions)
  • Liver problems including cholestatic jaundice and hepatitis
  • Diarrhoea caused by Clostridioides difficile (antibiotic-associated diarrhoea)

Uses

  • Lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Acute bacterial otitis media caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Sinusitis caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Skin and skin structure infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Urinary tract infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria
  • Used only when laboratory tests show the bacteria produce beta-lactamase; it is not the choice when bacteria respond to amoxycillin alone

Precautions

Do not use

  • Must not be used in patients with a history of a serious allergic reaction to amoxycillin, clavulanic acid or other beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins and cephalosporins
  • Must not be used in patients with a previous history of cholestatic jaundice or liver dysfunction caused by this combination
  • Must not be used in patients with mononucleosis, as a skin rash usually develops

Ask a doctor first

  • Check with a doctor first if you have liver or kidney problems, are pregnant or are breastfeeding
  • Check with a doctor first if you develop rash, yellowing of the skin, or severe or persistent diarrhoea during treatment
