Description

A synthetic antimuscarinic mydriatic and cycloplegic agent, widely used for ophthalmologic examination and surgery with the benefit of rapid onset and recovery. (Yu Yong Shin, 2021) A synthetic anticholinergic agent which produces mydriasis and cycloplegia. (A Rajeev, 2010) Enlarges the pupil to examine the posterior segment of the eye in order to view the overall health of the eye. The drug of first choice for patients of all ages in ophthalmologic practice to dilate the pupil before optic nerve examination, and surgery. (Kurtul, 2021) Inhibits cholinergic stimulation of the sphincter muscle and ciliary muscle in the iris, causing pupil dilation and cycloplegia. (Yelda Yildiz Tasci, 2021) Exerts a quick onset of action and ends faster with fewer side effects than atropine. (Yelda Yildiz Tasci, 2021) A promising agent that allows many optometrists and ophthalmologists to carry out quick, successful cycloplegic refractions with few complications. (L W Jones, 1991) Offer very effective cycloplegia for moderate to high hyperopia and has become the standard of care for pediatric cycloplegic exams. (Erin Major, 2020) The most commonly used cycloplegic agent with an onset of approximately 30 minutes after instillation and a duration of action of up to 24 hours. (Erin Major, 2020)
